WHERE AM I GOING?

The third and final question that a seeker will ask on his journey. The first two questions Who Am I? and What Am I Doing Here? was addressed in the pass two blogs. Let us take a moment to discuss the final and crucial question “Where Am I Going?”.

To some it appears that they are not making any headway in their life. Day in and day out they do the same thing and a sense of stagnation sets in. For some they have big plans for their material life by setting goals which is good since they can then gauge if they have made any material progress  in their life. If they achieve their goal they will say yes I have made it, I am successful, I have so much cash in my bank, I have all the material possession. But they soon become bored of their possession with a feeling of emptiness which they cannot explain. That is because they have not made any advancement within.

Where am I going? I need to go inwards to find myself and in doing so I find that something special that cannot be explained but only as an experience. That satisfaction when you say I have led a good life and fought a good fight with all the obstacles thrown at me. I have not lost my faith whatever it may be. I am now prepared to meet my Creator.

For many the fear of death is so pronounced that they either shunt it or avoid talking about it totally. Death is inevitable since all things that are created must perish eventually.
So what happens when death comes, where do I go? Will I meet my loved ones? Will I be punished for my wrong doings? Will I be reborn? Will I go to heaven? Will I go to hell? Many questions that we all ask but cannot find answers to. Depending on your faith and belief the afterlife will present itself to you.

For the purpose of this discussion let’s just say that yes there is a Supreme Creator and that there may be many faiths but God is One. So we all answer to that One Supreme Creator no matter what our faith is. The faith you have is not attached to your soul which moves on after death, back to its source the Supreme One. The faith you believe in is attached to your thinking mind hence to the body you take in this life. Your body will be handled the way it should depending on your faith and wishes, either to be cremated or buried. But that is just the body, what happens to your belief in a specific faith? Since faith is attached to your conscious thinking mind when you were alive and that dissipates after death, all that you have learnt of a certain faith also dissipates with it. You will have no recollection of it in your next life.

What then? Last week we spoke about the intellect. This is your identity which moves on and this identity benefits from the practices which you perform during your earthly life.
So if you are a religious person and keep your faith and belief, your intellect would have benefitted . But where does it go in-between births?

What I am going to say here is entirely up to you to accept or reject. You may ask how do I know all this? It does not matter how I know, what matters is does it stand to your reason and logic.

Ok here goes. Upon exhaling your last breath, your soul leaves your body and returns to the source, the Supreme One. Since your life force is gone from your body, the body then starts to decompose within hours without the life force supporting it. Your intellect together with your conscious mind lingers around for 7 days as you do not know you have died. There is still feeling and attachment since the conscious mind is still present but slowly dissipating as the energy cannot be sustained without the life force which is your soul. Hence your family members left behind are usually told not to grieve as that will hold you back and it is not good to be held back as you need to continue with your journey in the afterlife.

After 7 days the conscious mind dissipates totally and you no longer recollect your last life. Memories of it are recessed back and embedded into the subconscious. Like a computer ‘s cache memory. You can erase the data but it is still somewhere in the system in what IT people refer to as cache memory.

Prior to the conscious memory totally dissipating you will be shown all your last life deeds good and bad. Like a fast forward movie. You will feel remorse for all the bad deeds you have done, you will feel miserable as it hurts and yet you cannot do anything. Then the movie ends and at that stage two things happen, either you take on another birth immediately or you take a break prior to being assign your next birth. This depends on your level of purity achieved in your previous birth by the intellect. Upon rebirth you take on a new conscious mind for the purpose of learning about yourself all over again so as to move further up the spiritual ladder. With this new birth you take, your intellect goes with it and with it, the soul – the force that gives you life.

The cycle of birth and death then continues!
