A condition which almost every human faces and is not able to get around it. There are many kinds of fear. Before we continue let’s examine what is the condition when fear arises. It’s a feeling that grips a person firstly in the mind then it trickles down as a feeling inside you and then it expresses itself as action, either by shouting or running away from the situation. That is when you are faced with physical fear.
How about mental fear? There’s no where to run since it’s all in your mind. You conjure the situation in your mind and it takes over your rational thinking resulting in a panic mode where you have no where to run, frozen in fear.
What are the various types or fear? I shall rank them in order of the biggest to the smallest with death as number 1.
- Death
- Public Speaking
- Darkness
- Failure
- Being Jobless
- Humiliation
- Falling
- Growing Old
- Sickness
- Unknown
Of all the ten different types of fear, the common thread is the word “unknown”. Fear exists due to not knowing what’s next. The feeling of fear dissipates immediately when you know what’s going to happen next. Take fear of darkness for example when you enter a room that is dark you become fearful because you do know what is in that room with you. The moment you turn on the light and the room is lighted up, fear goes away since you are able to see what’s in the room with you. This applies to all the conditions listed above where fear can take over you, except the biggest fear No 1. Why is this so? It’s because death is an unknown area where no one can give you a glimpse of what it to happen and because of not knowing, it becomes a big issue with 99% of us. So fear is due to the unknown and once the unknown is known, fear leaves you.
So how then can we address this issue so that when your time comes it will be a non-issue for you. Firstly, when fear hits you, take a moment to reflect and seek for answers to see what is next. Seek help from others or on this website if you have to do so or in the faith that you belief in. Once you have found the answer to what is to be, fear dissipates and you are back to your normal self.
However,of all the fears listed above, you can add more to the ten if you have more, fear of death is one that no one can give you the answer to. No one has crossed over and come back to tell you what’s it like. NDE (near death experience) is not death, it’s in-between and all the YouTube postings about people seeing their love ones and being sent back to earth as their time is not right, I’ve no comments as it cannot be proven that it actually happened. What we are left with on the subject of death is this. Death is inevitable, so why fear? It has to happen to all living things, yes all! As long as there is life, death has to take place. Plants take life and they die, insets take life and they die, animals take life and they die so do humans, they take birth and they too must die.
To overcome fear of death, understand that it’s a natural process of creation. Accept it when it comes, talk about it, prepare for it so those who are left behind to take care of your burial knows what to do. Be happy in life, be joyous in death. Live a good life, die a good death. Fear disappear when the unknown becomes known.
Since we come from the Creator, we go back to the Creator. The cycle is complete and that’s what life and death is all about. We celebrate life when we take birth let’s learn to celebrate death when it arrives.
